For a second year running, the Consortium for National Health Research (CNHR) and the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) successfully hosted the National Health Research to-Policy Workshop in Nairobi. A total of 109 participants drawn from representative national health research, teaching and policy institutions as well as development partner organisations attended the meeting.

The participants reviewed and discussed a broad range of research and policy related issues regarding the attainment of the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), namely 4, 5 and 6. The Workshop recognised that while it was true that Kenya was lagging behind in the implementation of activities towards the attainment of these health-related MDGs, the indicators were still achievable as long as urgent attention was paid at both policy and research levels, and appropriate remedial action taken. The meeting went further to identify a number of specific strategic actions to be undertaken, all committed to ensuring sufficient progress was achieved by the time of the next workshop.
